Hmmm, if only there were a province in Canada with a lot of long roads. If we only knew of a region that has long hot summers ideal for having fun in a small, performance car. Well, folks, Saskatchewan is that province and the hot hatchback you want to be driving in and around Meadow Lake is the 2017 Ford Focus RS.
You may have heard of it already - it’s an impressive car, especially for the money. This hot hatch is a hoot to drive and can compete with bigger, more powerful vehicles that are nearly double its price tag.
Let us introduce you to the 2017 Ford Focus RS, your next hot hatch.
Rarely do respected automotive publications agree on how good a vehicle really is. The Focus RS is an exception. Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road & Track, Top Gear, and countless other automotive websites and publications, rave about this exciting hatchback. Read pretty much any Focus RS review and it will tell you that the 2017 Focus RS is a true hot hatch that is at home on the track, and cruising down long, winding highways.
“Rally-driver wannabes and hot-hatch hooligans, your wait is over: The Focus RS is here. With a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that sends 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels, the RS comes standard with a six-speed manual and a unique torque-vectoring system. Michelin Pilot Super Sports wrap nineteen-inch wheels; we recorded a 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds in our testing. Developed with input from Ken Block, we judge the RS to be better than the Subaru WRX, WRX STI, and VW Golf R.” - Car and Driver
So, everyone knows the Focus RS is a fun car to drive, but why? There are a few reasons, but at the top of the list is torque vectoring. When turning a corner, this allows a car to send torque to outside wheel or wheels, making for an incredibly responsive turning capability. Of course, it helps that the 2017 Focus RS has 350 lb-ft of torque available. The RS also has the ability to send 70 per cent of its 350 hp to the back wheels, which gives the driver even more control.
“The engine makes a significant amount of torque at low rpms, allowing you to accelerate in most gears without feeling the need to downshift and wind the motor up.” - Road & Track
The 2017 Ford Focus RS was virtually impossible to find for much of the year - it was that popular. Finally Ford has been able to produce more and keep up with demand, and we currently have one of these impressive machines in-stock.
But, for how long it will stay unsold is anyone’s guess. The Focus RS is a bargain in comparison to its competition. While the 2017 VW Golf R is slightly cheaper, its specs can’t come close to matching the Focus RS, with the RS having close to 60 hp than the Golf R and 70 more lb-ft of torque. Compared to the Subaru WRX STI, the story remains the same, it simply doesn’t have the specs of the 2017 Ford Focus RS.
Of course, you shouldn’t just take our word for it - contact us today to schedule a test drive so you can experience the power and performance of the 2017 Focus RS for yourself.
