What are the Different Ford F-150 Models?

The 2020 Ford F-150 Lineup

Each Ford F-150 model comes with a long list of engine options, standard safety systems, infotainment and luxury features - and, of course, a price tag that changes accordingly. We’ve highlighted the need-to-know specs of each model below to help you decide which features are the ones you need most and which F-150 model is right for you.

Ford F-150 XL. The XL is the F-150 base model, and comes with all of the necessary features to get the job done! Ford’s confident 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine is standard in every truck, and the 6-speed automatic transmission has three driving modes to suit your needs: Normal, Tow-Haul and Sport. Plenty of safety features come standard in the F-150 XL, including Rear View Camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist, Curve Control, Automatic High Beams and more. The base-level XL is lacking a few bells and whistles, such as power doors and infotainment connectivity, but these (and many more) additional conveniences can easily be added to the XL through various packages.

Ford F-150 XLT. The F-150 XLT has all of the same great features as the XL, but adds front and rear chrome bumpers, an 8-inch infotainment screen, and standard cruise control. You’ll also benefit from improved infotainment in the XLT, including FordPass Connect, which provides access to helpful apps right from your phone, and SYNC 3 with voice activated controls and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Ford F-150 Lariat. The Lariat introduces a new engine: a 2.7L Ecoboost V6 with 10-speed automatic transmission that pumps out significantly more horsepower and torque than the previous two F-150 models, but uses less fuel in the process. You’ll also enjoy more standard safety features in the Lariat, such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Pre-Collision Assist with Emergency Braking, Pro-Trailer Backup Assist and much more.

Ford F-150 King Ranch. This model includes a beefy and powerful V8 engine, and a total interior redesign that adds class and luxury at every corner. Heated and ventilated leather seats, flow-through centre console, ice-blue ambient lighting and a standard B&O sound system transform the driving experience for everyone on board. Ford’s full suite of driver-assist safety features is standard in the King Ranch, and small details like the Tailgate Step make every aspect of this model comfortable and user-friendly.

Ford F-150 Platinum. The F-150 Platinum boasts the same powerful engine, impressive infotainment and luxury features as the King Ranch, but adds multi-contour leather seats for added comfort and satin chrome with silver mesh exterior accents. The Platinum edition also includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go to make long drives easier than ever. This system will allow you to set a safe cruising speed and distance from the car in front of you, and then accelerate and brake for you to maintain a safe distance and speed. All that’s left is to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Ford F-150 Limited. This trim includes Ford’s most impressive engine: the High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost V6, which pumps out a whopping 450 ponies and 510 pounds per foot of torque. This durable engine configuration was built to last while delivering impressive power for the long haul. The F-150 Limited also comes with a gorgeous power moonroof, 360-degree camera with split-view display (it even provides a bird’s eye view of the vehicle!) and a premium 10-speaker B&O sound system, as well as Ford’s full suite of standard safety, infotainment, comfort and convenience features.

Ford F-150 Raptor. As the name suggests, the F-150 Raptor is designed from headlights to tailgate for off-roading prowess. This trim includes High-Output, Off-Road FOX Live Valve Racing Shox to deliver maximum control while you tackle challenging terrain, and a Terrain Management System with seven drive modes for everything from deep snow/sand to rock crawl capabilities. It also includes all of the tech, safety and luxury features that you could ever want in such a powerful and competent off-roading vehicle.
